Has anyone else read "The Neon Bible?" I believe it is the only other book written by John Kennedy O'Toole. If you have read it, what did you think of it? If you haven't read it, I highly recommend reading it. In my humble opinion, it isn't nearly as good a "Confederacy of Dunces." Then again, C.O.D. is such a great book it would be hard to top. Nevertheless, "The Neon Bible" is worth checking out.

Re: The Neon Bible
Sun, February 15, 2004 - 9:04 PMI read it about a year after COD. I think it's really good, but you can kind of tell that he hadnt really done a lot of rewriting with it. Or maybe that's the style. I mean, it kind of feels like it was written by a 15 or 16 year old. The sentence structure and whatnot. But the ending sure surprised me. Good book. Glad you brought it up. And yeah, it is the only other book he wrote, I think. Sad. Guy was the greatest writer of the 20th and possibly the 21 century and we'll never read his stuff. Sucks. That's life? -
